No Copyright: Mit Till Kreutzer, Michael Seemann und Vera Linß im Radio



Am Samstag um 11 Uhr, bei draußen strahlendem Sonnenschein, fand im dunklen und etwas verrauchten Studio des DeutschlandRadio Wissen am Berliner Hans-Rosenthal-Platz eine interessante Diskussion mit Till Kreutzer (links), Michael Seemann (Mitte) und Vera Linß (Moderatorin, rechts) über Jost Smiers und Marieke van Schijndels Buch „No Copyright“ statt. Es wurde eine ruhige, sachliche, interessante Debatte. Man kann sie im Netz hier nachhören. Kurzer Bericht:

Besonders angenehm wurde die Diskussion, weil Till Kreutzer und ich uns ausnahmsweise einmal nicht über das Leistungsschutzrecht streiten mussten. Ich glaube, Till Kreutzer war darüber genau so erleichtert wie ich. So konnte der sonnige Samstag ein sonniger Samstag bleiben.

Unser größter Meinungsunterschied war dieses Mal, ob man digitale Kopien von Werken im Netz lieber durch eine gesetzliche Schranke mit Vergütungspflicht (Kreutzer) bezahlen lässt oder durch technisch-maschinelle Standards, die den Verkauf von Werken über mehrere Stufen erleichtern und weitgehend automatisieren (Keese). Ansonsten waren wir bei erstaunlich vielen Themen einer Meinung. Ich hatte nicht erwartet, dass Kreutzer sich so entschieden für den Schutz von Urhebern und Investoren aussprechen würde und so deutlich Stellung gegen die Kernthese des Buchs von Smiers und van Schijndel beziehen würde. Er sagte völlig richtig, dass niemand mehr 50 Millionen Dollar für einen Film investiert, wenn jeder Dritte den Film am Tag des Erscheinens kopieren und weiterverkaufen kann. Und dass Autoren davor geschützt werden müssen, dass Verlage ihre Bücher einfach drucken und ihnen kein Honorar dafür bezahlen. Ohne Urheberrecht geht es nicht.

Die Debatte hat mir etwas gebracht. Ich denke seitdem darüber nach, ob und wie man eine neue gesetzliche Schranke mit Vergütungspflicht und technisch optimierten Rechtehandel im Netz miteinander verbinden könnte. Das ist auch wichtig für die Arbeit der Linked Content Coalition, die an letzterem arbeitet und deren Project Board ich vorsitze. Wird spannend sein, die Diskussion mit Till Kreutzer dazu fortzusetzen. Vielleicht kann ich ihn ja nebenbei eines Tages davon überzeugen, dass Presseverlage auch nichts anderes tun als Filmstudios und daher rechtlichen Schutz verdienen.
