Zehn Sätze zum Verhältnis von Journalisten, Redaktionen und Verlagen im Zeitalter künstlicher Kuratierung



Wenn künstliche Intelligenz journalistische Beiträge für beliebig viele Leser auf Smartphones besser kuratieren kann als Menschen, wie hier und hier beschrieben, welche Folgen hat dies dann für das Verhältnis von Journalisten, Redaktionen und Verlagen? Zehn Thesen ohne Beweis.

Satz 1: Autoren und Redakteure gehen im Journalismus stets eine Symbiose ein, die bessere Ergebnisse liefert, wenn Kritik entschlossen berücksichtigt und eingearbeitet wird.

Satz 2: Aus Redaktionen stammende Beiträge sind durch den Prozess der Redigatur im Regelfall besser sind als Beiträge, die ohne Redaktion entstehen.

Satz 3: In Redaktionen entstehen Themenideen und Sichtweisen, die meist origineller sind als das, was einzelne Autoren leisten können.

Satz 4: Künstliche Kuratierung baut Rückkopplungen von Lesern in ihre Auswahl mit ein und schafft so einen Regelkreis, der Qualität und Originalität belohnt.

Satz 5: Somit belohnt künstliche Kuratierung die Arbeit von Redaktionen und setzt wirtschaftliche Anreize, sie zu gründen und zu unterhalten.

Satz 6: Arbeit von Redaktionen besteht in der Zukunft weniger aus dem Erstellen von Seiten und mehr aus dem Produzieren und Kuratieren von Beiträgen, die sich in Systemen selbstlernender künstlicher Kuratierung durchsetzen können.

Satz 7: Für eine Redaktion und ihre Marke zu schreiben, wertet die Arbeit von Autoren zusätzlich auf und steigert die Zahl der Leser durch das Senden zusätzlicher Qualitätssignale an automatische Kuratoren.

Satz 8: Verlage organisieren die wirtschaftliche Wertschöpfung ihrer Redaktionen und Autoren, was durch die technische Entwicklung anspruchsvoller wird und daher Anreize für Kreative setzt, sich mit Verlagen zu verbinden.

Satz 9: Künstliche Intelligenz verändert zwar die Kuratierung, aber nicht das Verhältnis der Journalisten, Redaktionen und Verlage untereinander.

Satz 10: Die Kuratierung journalistischer Beiträge durch künstliche Intelligenz mindert nicht die Bedeutung von Redaktionen.

    Bis Satz 2 fahre ich mit, bei Satz 3 bestehen Zweifel, die u.a. mit den Sätzen 6 und 8 zu tun haben, und Satz 4 möchte man gerne wahrhaben, aber man weiß, dass er so glatt nicht stimmt: “Künstliche Kuratierung baut Rückkopplungen von Lesern in ihre Auswahl mit ein und schafft so einen Regelkreis, der Qualität und Originalität belohnt.” Abgesehen von dem glitzernden Begriff “Qualität” (zu dessen Überflüssigkeit im Zusammenhang mit Journalismus vor wenigen Seibt sich sehr gut geäußert hat, abgesehen davon also weiß man eigentlich ganz besonders in Verlagen wie Ihrem, dass die Masse der Leserschaft eine Tendenz hat zu a) Kürze, b) laute Meinung, c) prominente Namen, d) “Skandal”, e) Vereinfachung usw. usf. Wenn 1 und 2 richtig sind, müsste eigentlich zu schlussfolgern sein, dass auch für die Kuratierung der Einsatz von menschlicher Intelligenz zu besseren Ergebnisse führen müsste als der automatisierte Quoten-Journalismus.
    Mit den Sätzen 8 bis 10 fordern Sie dann nicht weniger als die Kapitulation von Autoren und Redaktion vor dem meist favorisierten Schwachsinn. “Satz 8: Verlage organisieren die wirtschaftliche Wertschöpfung ihrer Redaktionen und Autoren …” ist die moderne, inhaltsleere und nur noch zahlenorientierte Management-Perspektive und interessanterweise wird der klassische Verleger dabei zu einem abstrakten Unternehmenstyp “Verlag”. Ganz offenkundig fehlt diesen 10 Sätzen die Präambel, die Sie in der Auseinandersetzung ums LSR immer noch als die große Flagge der “gesellschaftspolitischen Verantwortung” und der “unverzichtbare Rolle für die Meinungsbildung in der Demokratie” geschwungen haben. Das ist alles hier weggewischt und übrig bleibt die Überlegung, dass Autoren und Redaktionen schlucken müssen, dass sie künftig stets Quote, Quote, Quote zu bringen haben. Dass Sie dem noch einmal versuchen, dem Automaten als Chef aller Dienste eine nützliche und schöne Seite abzugewinnen, ehrt Sie ja in gewisser Weise, dürfte sich aber als Irrtum herausstellen. Logisch ist es ja wohl so, dass die Redaktionen denken müssen, wie der Automat denkt. Und in Bezug auf das Publikum in Stimuli denken. Damit solche antijournalistischen Geschäftsmodelle gefördert werden, dafür sollte das LSR aber nicht gemacht sein. Dann müsste der Verteilungkampf, so es denn da einmal etas zu verteilen gäbe, wohl anders geführt werden – “quotenunabhängig”.

      Aggregatoren, die mit künstlicher Intelligenz arbeiten, liefern Ihnen nicht die Texte aus, die von der Masse gemocht werden, sondern jene, die Sie mögen. Kürze, Skandal, Prominenz spielen in Ihrer Auswahl deswegen keine Rolle, wenn Sie das nicht wollen. Die Texte sind so intelligent wie Sie möchten, dass sie sind. Das meine ich mit Qualitäts-Rückkopplung. “Quote” ist kein passendes Wort für diesen Prozess. Sie bezeichnet eher das gegenteilige Konzept.
      Übrigens beschreibe ich hier kein Wunschmodell, sondern eine technische Wirklichkeit, die auf uns zukommt, auch wenn wir es nicht mögen.

        Es kann ja sein, dass ich meinen Automaten beibringen kann, das für mch “Beste” zu apportieren. Aber hier geht es ja um die Redaktionen und Autoren, und die sollen künftig für die Leserzahl verantwortlich sein. Das hat es in dieser Priorität und Unbedingtheit nie zuvor gegeben (mit Ausnahme der Boulevard-Zeitungen). Die Erfahrungen mit dem Privatfernsehen zeigen, wo diese Reise hingeht – Journalismus wird zum Quotengeschäft. Der individuelle und automatisierte Auswahlprozess fördert eher das Quotendenken, weil man sich das ja bitter verdienen muss, dass einen viele Zuschauer/Leser “einschalten”. Das läuft darauf hinaus, dass der Autor schreibt und der Redakteur die Kompetenz beisteuern darf, wie die Artikel für KLickraten und Aggregatoren “optimiert” werden.
        Etwas anders sieht es erst dann aus, wenn Sie auch online Bezahlung einfordern würden. Dann trennen sich die Unterhaltungsleser von den klassischen “Zeitungsjunkies”, die nach Information und Wissen dürsten. Das wäre eben kein Mengengeschäft, sondern tatsächlich ein Qualitätsgeschäft. Und hätte dann wieder damit zu tun, wo ein Leser sich “Zuhause” fühlt.
